We Help You Look Great
Hair braiding has a long history, dating back at least 5,000 years. It has been a big part of many cultures all around the world including Asia, Africa, the Americas, Egypt, and Europe. For instance, in Africa hair braiding can be traced back as far as 3500 B.C. where it was seen as a social event for women. In Europe during the Renaissance, the French braiding was used to keep the hair as clean as possible as it wasn't always an option to bathe frequently.
Many Aztec women would take narrow strips of colorful cloth and braid them into their hair, then wind the braids around their head. In Egypt, hair braiding was practiced on wigs that Egyptian royals wore.
Advantages
Braiding hair has a way of bringing people together and passing down traditions. Hair braiding can be used to keep hair clean, and requires very little maintence. Having your hair braided keeps it out of the way while doing daily activites. Hair braiding is a healthier alternative to styling your hair rather than using hot tools which can be damaging. Hair braiding is a form of self-expression.
How I got started
When I was younger, my mom would always braid my hair in the morning before school. I was always so fascinated by all the different types of braids she could do. Whenever my mom would go out of town there wouldn’t be anybody to do my hair, this forced me to learn how to braid my own hair. Once I learned the basics of braiding, I wanted to see what other types of braids were possible. After this, I started braiding my hair on a daily basis, and my friends would start asking me to braid their hair as well which has continued throughout the years.
